VILLA REALE DI CASTELLO

VILLA ROYAL CASTLE

The Villa di Castello is one of the oldest suburban residences of the Medici family, who owned it since 1477.
Loved by Cosimo I, it was subject to special care and its garden, designed in 1538, a year after the rise to power of the young Duke, was designed to celebrate the power of the prince through the symbolism of his statues, fountains, and the caves. Currently the villa is not open to the public, but you can visit the beautiful garden full of citrus trees and rare plants and decorated with ancient sculptures and Renaissance. Of extraordinary charm is the Cave of the animals, once animated by water features.
The visits are treated by the Cooperative Services Cultural Sigma.
